PHILOSOPHY

We believe each child brings their own light, a unique set of gifts, to the world. Our goal is to encourage and nurture this light. We are a play based, nature centered preschool. Our curriculum is founded on three basic tenets: reverence for the young child, a balanced rhythm and routine, and the teacher as a role model---imitation.

 

REVERENCE for the young child is the core of our philosophy. Each child is seen as a unique and wonderful gift, and their individuality is respected. As their caregiver we provide leadership, structure, and a safe foundation from which they can explore the world.

 

The curriculum provides RHYTHM for the child to easily, willingly and dreamily participate in the daily activities of the school. The daily rhythm is a natural balance of imaginative play and more focused activities and is consistent, so that the young child can know what to expect, build confidence and independence from this knowing and therefore create an opening to learn and grow.

 

IMITATION is an essential aspect of managing the curriculum. Teachers role model behavior and activities. Children are eager to imitate those that they care about and have a relationship with. Teachers set an example of kindness, patience and love. Children are drawn to participate naturally.
